Acquiring CNA certification in West Virginia requires the aspiring candidates to go for the authorized program program and qualify the competency test. The approval of program course, administration of the competency exam and management of the state registry is carried out by the Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification. You will get a number of job opportunities in different work settings once you obtain the nurse aide licensure.
Before taking the competency exam, you must find out the eligibility criteria of the state.
Note – If your registration has lapsed for more than 5 years, you will be required to complete a nurse aide program program and pass the exam, in order to be listed in the state registry.
Follow the below steps to be a CNA in the state:
Step 1 – The initial step is to find out if you are eligible to take the evaluation test. The eligibility criteria have been explained above.
Step 2 – Complete your application and submit it to the PHD (Professional Healthcare Development, LLC) for pre-registration. You may obtain the application from your nursing assistant program program; or else, you can also download it from the below link:

Professional Healthcare Development, LLC
P.O. Box 399
Ona, West Virginia – 25545
Step 5 – Upon receiving your application and testing fee, PHD will pre-register you and send you an admission ticket that includes your exam date.
Step 6 – Take and pass both the sections of the test- written/oral and skills evaluation.
Step 7 – Your results will be mailed by the PHD to you and your program instructor. If you pass and meet all the requirements, your name will be listed on the WV Nurse Aide Registry.
