CNA Certification In Utah

Candidates planning to appear for the NATCEP (Nursing Assistant Program and Competency Evaluation Program) can take the exam after completing the CNA Program program approved by the Utah State. You need to complete an “Application for Certification Testing”, which must be signed by your instructor and have the exact date of completion.

The UNAR office may award a waiver of program if you meet the following requirements:

• If you are a current nursing student or if you have passed the first semester of the nursing school within the last 2 years, you must submit an official transcript of “nursing fundamentals” class along with the application. If you fail to pass either written or skills section of the examination even after 3 attempts, you need to complete a program program approved by the UNAR (Utah Nurse Aide Registry).

• If your license has expired, you are required to show evidence of your license held in another state. You must be in good standing with the nursing board of that particular state. The UNAR may allow you to undergo 1 attempt to pass both the written and skills portion of the exam, but if you do not pass either section; you must retake a program program approved by the state.

• If you are in good standing with UNAR but your certification has expired, you will receive 1 attempt to pass both the written and skills portion of the CNA exam. If you fail to pass either section, you need to complete an accredited nurse aide program program and take the test within 1 year from the expiry date.

• If you are an out-of-state CNA who is presently certified and in good standing with survey agency of another state, you will be granted reciprocity after submitting the proof of certification.

• If you are an out-of-state CNA with an expired license, you must complete an approved program program.

Nursing aide license in UT remains valid for 2 years from the date of issue. To stay active in the state’s registry, the applicant must be employed in a licensed healthcare setting as a paid CNA for a minimum of 200 hours performing nursing related services, under the supervision of a licensed nurse throughout this 2 year renewal period. A renewal notice will be mailed approximately 45 days before the expiry date of your license.

Question 1 – How much fees do I need to pay for taking the CNA certification exam?

Answer – Both the sections of the CNA exam- written test and clinical skills – cost you $35.00 each. You need to pay the testing fees along with the application.

Question 2 – Is there any grace period for renewing the CNA licensure?

Answer – If you renew your license by the end of the month in which your license expires, no renewal fee is charged. If you renew your license within the 30-day grace period after the expiry date of your license, a late fee of $10.00 is charged. After 30 days, you will have to take the test again.

Question 3 – Is my CNA license valid in any other U.S. state?

Answer – To transfer your CNA license from Utah to another state, you must contact the nurse aide registry of the state you are planning to move and find out if your CNA status can be transferred.
