CNA Certification In New Mexico

CNA certification in New Mexico can be earned in a very short duration, i.e., within a few weeks. This is the reason the nursing aide career is becoming popular day by day. The initial step for obtaining the nurse aide licensure is to complete the program program or coursework conducted by the state. Another important requisite is to pass the state-approved licensure examination. This article gives you complete information about the requirements to be fulfilled and procedure to obtain nursing assistant certification, and how to renew it.

Prerequisites to Acquire CNA Certification in New Mexico

You must meet the following requirements in order to get certified.

1. New Nurse Aide

  • Complete a nurse aide program program approved by the state, within the past 2 years. This program course must be of at least 75 hours duration.
  • Request your program program director to fill the details mentioned in Part D of the application as an evidence of the program course.
  • Pass both parts of the competency examination within 2 years of completion of the program. Else, you will be required to retake the program.

2. Out-of-State Nurse Aide (Expired)

If you presently hold a nurse aide license in any other state’s nurse aide registry, but your license has expired within the last 2 years, you are required to fulfill the following requisites:

  • Your license must be in good standing with no findings of neglect, resident abuse, or misappropriation of the resident’s property.
  • Successfully completed testing within 6 months of the date mentioned on your Approval Letter.
  • The DOH must have permitted you to apply for the license in the state. Call the DOH at 505.476.9025 for any other information related to the approval process.
  • Upon approval, an approval letter will be sent to you. Attach this letter along with the application and send it to Prometric.

Note If you are out-of-state CNA who hold current certification in any other U.S. state, you may apply to the New Mexico DOH, Division of Health Improvement, Health Facility Licensing and Certification Bureau (HFLC) for reciprocity. If your application is approved, you may be granted a New Mexico nurse aide certificate without taking any further testing or program.
