CNA Program In Texas

Student aspiring for a nurse aide program must meet the following requirements. These may change as per the rules and norms of different program schools.

• Student must carry a high school diploma or GED.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
• S/he must have a clean background with no act of wrongdoing in past. If found guilty then s/he can be disqualified from the course.
• Must get a complete medical checkup done including drug and TB test.
• One should hold a current healthcare provider (CPR) card.
• Aspirant should own a valid identity proof like social security number etc.

There are cases when you get an exemption from CNA Program program:

• If candidate has undergone at least 100 hours of military program.
• If nurse aide program has been completed in another state.
• Have completed RN or LVN program courses without license.
• If s/he can demonstrate basic nursing skills and has enrolled in nurse aide program from accredited institute.

In Texas, nurse aide aspirants must acquire 75 hours of program which include 51 hours of classroom session and rest 24 hours for clinical practices. The successful completion of program allows aspirant to appear in the state administered CNA competency examination. This exam must be taken within two years of completing the CNA course; if you are not able to do so then you might have to re-enroll for entire course. The nurse aide program course costs you around $1300 in the state of Texas.
