CNA Certification In Connecticut

CNA certification in Connecticut is regulated by the state Department of Health. To receive nursing assistant license in CT and get added to the State Nurse Aide Registry, applicants are required to complete an accredited program program and qualify the NNAAP (National Nurse Aide Assessment Program) exam.

Requirements for CNA Certification in CT

1. By Examination

  • Complete the Connecticut Nurse Aide Registry application either online or by submitting paper application.
  • Provide a copy of successful completion of a nurse aide program program approved by the state within the past 2 years.

2. By Reciprocity

If you currently hold an active license on a registry in another state, you may apply for license by reciprocity. You will be required to provide a letter of verification or a copy of active certificate from your current state of licensure that must include the expiration date, issue date, and verification.

Procedure to Obtain CNA Certification by Examination

Step 3 – Take the nurse aide exam at your scheduled test location.

Step 4 – If you pass both the clinical skills as well as the written examination, the nursing assistant certificate will be sent to you by mail and your name will be added to the CNA Registry of CT.


Check Status of your Examination Application

You can check the status of your application within a period of 24 hours after submission of the online application. If you have applied by mailing the paper application, the status will be updated in 7 business days.
